Instagram: Uses your personal data to decide which ads to show you.
We don't sell ads. There's nothing to target you with.
Instagram: Takes a license to host, modify, and create derivative works from your content.
We don't touch your content. It's yours, unmodified, full stop.
Instagram: Can show your name and photo next to sponsored posts and ads — with no compensation to you.
Your face is never used to sell anything. Not an ad, not a brand deal you didn't agree to.
Instagram: Makes you agree to binding arbitration and waive your right to a class-action lawsuit.
We don't force arbitration or waive your right to sue us.
Instagram: Shows you an algorithm-ranked feed built to maximize how long you scroll.
Your feed is chronological — posts from who you follow, in the order they happened. No algorithm.
Instagram: Shares your data across an entire family of other companies and their products.
There's no family of apps. Your data stays on this platform, period.
Instagram: Uses your photos and videos to train AI and machine-learning systems.
We don't train AI on your photos or videos. Ever.
Instagram: Leans on automated systems to review reports and enforce its policies.
A real person reviews every report. Not a bot, not an algorithm.
Instagram: Can keep "deleted" content in backups for up to 90+ more days after you delete it.
Delete a post and it's gone — right away, not held in a backup for months.
Instagram: Reserves the right to change your username if it decides that's appropriate.
Your username is yours. We'll never change it without asking you first.
